Chairman's Letter

Dear Passenger,

Welcome aboard and thank you for flying Egypt Air. Our cabin crew will do their best to ensure your flight is as pleasant as possible.

Although it has been over six decades since this national flag carrier was founded in 1932, our airline has still maintained a fresh and youthful look. this achievement is due to our determination to constantly modernize our fleet, equipment and service. We strive to keep pace with the rapid changes in technology which characterize the aviation industry. This consolidated effort will take us through to the 21st century, with its vast challenges.

In order to accomplish our goal, we have recently ordered two of the most advanced aircraft developed by Airbus Industries from the A 340 family. This will be the wide bandied airliner- A340-600, but with more range. Delivery is expected by the year 2003 . We are also in discussion with Boeing for the acquisition of two aircraft, B-777-200x long range. this policy of modernizing our fleet will lead to more comfort and convenience for you and millions of passengers who choose to fly Egypt Air.

In the wake of this modernization we have embarked on developing a new integrated technical base to serve our advanced fleet. It is considered to be the largest base in the region and will consist of several components, one of which is the new hangar which will be completed by the end of this year, With a length of 180m, it will be able to accommodate two wide bodied aircraft. this new hangar is located beside our old hangar which is currently under development. concurrently with this project, we are also building an avionics workshop which will occupy 9000m. After completion of the engine bed test facility, we signed a contract to build a workshop for the maintenance and repair of electrical and hydraulic systems, this will take up an area of almost 12000m, and a storage facility of approx. 15000m. this fully integrated technical base at Cairo International Airport will provide an advanced overhaul, repair and maintenance for our fleet.

Our modernization plans also cover training programs for our staff who work both in the air and at ground level. These programs have been devised by our experts in co-operation with international experts, drawn from all fields of aviation, management and engineering.

On behalf of the Egypt Air family. I wish you an enjoyable flight and hope to see you in the near future.
